The challenge of the perfect snack box pictures – my first attempt
A webshop without attractive product images? Unthinkable! But how difficult can it be to put a few tasty snack boxes in the right light? I asked myself this question - and the answer came quicker than I would have liked. Because my first attempts to create professional images for the shop were anything but easy.
From Idea to Implementation
I had a clear idea: high-quality images that perfectly capture the freshness, variety and enjoyment of my snack boxes. After all, customers should see at first glance what to expect - and ideally feel like ordering a box straight away. But theory and practice were far apart.
The first hurdles
At first I thought my smartphone with a good camera would be enough. So I set up a little photo corner, put the first sandwich boxes on a pretty wooden table and started taking pictures. But I quickly realized that without the right light and an attractive background, the pictures just didn't look the way I had imagined. The colors looked pale and the snack boxes didn't really look appetizing.
Light, angle and composition – a science in itself
So I kept trying: Use daylight? Only worked to a limited extent, because depending on the time of day it was either too bright or too dim. An artificial light source? Not ideal either - shadows and reflections made it difficult. I experimented with different angles, perspectives and backgrounds. Light, neutral backgrounds that didn't steal the show from the snack boxes worked best.
The first usable results
After countless attempts, I finally had a series of images that were at least suitable for the first start. Perfect? Not by a long shot. But at least I was able to fill my first product pages with real images! Of course, there is still a lot to improve: a more consistent lighting setup, more professional post-processing and maybe even a photo shoot with a professional at some point. But for now, I'm proud of what I've achieved.
My conclusion: Product photography is an art in itself
I've learned that good product photos need more than just a cell phone camera and a pretty arrangement. It's about light, perspective, mood - and above all, patience. The first snack box photos are online, and that's just the beginning! Who knows, maybe I'll continue to optimize and perfect the presentation in the future.
And until then? I'll just enjoy one of my delicious snack boxes - because one thing is for sure: they not only look good, they taste good too!
